I’ve been "blessed" with long, pin-straight hair — the kind I know some curly-haired people would die for. But it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. My fine tresses are perpetually knotting, tangling themselves on the nape of my neck as the day goes on and ending up in a nest by the time I’m ready hit the shower at night. Running hands through my hair and not snagging on a difficult piece of hair is a feat I rarely conquer.
Because of this, I hate brushing my hair. In fact, I try to avoid it if possible, begging my mom, my roommates, or my boyfriend to reluctantly sit and stroke my mid-back length locks until the knots are finally out and (hopefully) most of the strands are still intact and on my head, not the brush.
This all changed when I met the Wet Brush family. Normal paddle brushes typically tug hair because their thick, stiff bristles that easily get stuck in the knots. But the Wet Brush’s thin, perfectly-spaced IntelliFlex bristles are extra bendy and designed so that they’re firm enough to get through the tough spots, but soft enough not to rip the hair. Bonus points for the slightly massaging action of the bristles that feel great on my scalp.
I bought my first Wet Brush for the beach to fight chlorine and salt water tangles, but I quickly fell in love. Now, a cute mini Wet Brush lives in my purse, an original Wet Brush stays on my armoire, and the Wet Brush Flex Dry stays on my bathroom sink for insanely easy blow drying in half the time — seriously. The Flex Dry's soft, pliable bristles glide though my hair without pulling on it, while the ventilated paddle allows my the heat from my trusty blow dryer speedily dry each strand.
Thanks to tons of positive Amazon reviews, I’ve heard the brush works just as well for wavy and curly-haired folks. My hair is left smooth, shiny, and healthy, no matter if I'm styling or simply detangling — and my loved ones are finally spared the daunting task of untangling my hair.
